In an effort to be more responsive to patient needs and provide care more effectively to its 10 million residents, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved the creation of a single, integrated health agency that unites the Departments of Health Services, Mental Health, and Public Health.
On April 20, 2016
The USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work Department of Adults and Healthy Aging offered a conversation about what this new integration of care could mean for delivery of services to the people of Los Angeles.

Dr. Hortensia Amaro presents, “Social Determinants of Health: Integrating Services in LA Communities”.
Dr. Roderick Shaner, LAC-DMH Medical Director, answers questions from the audience during the Q & answer segment of the Forum on Health Care for Los Angeles Communities.
Dr. John Connolly, from the L.A. County Department of Public Health, provided an overview of policy changes that will provide increased access to services addressing substance use disorders.
Mr. Marc Trotz, director of Housing for Health with the L.A. County Department of Health Services, inspired attendees to look for creative solutions to address the homelessness crisis in Los Angeles.
