This study, guided by Lewis-Fernández et al.’s (J Nerv Ment Dis 197(5):337-347, 2009) analyses, examined the association of lifetime endorsement of psychotic symptoms with demographic, clinical and support system variables and types of services received.

Informed by the Escape Theory of Suicide, we investigated the relationship between discrepancy factors, in the form of self-esteem and quality of life (QoL), and suicidal ideation. In a sample of 162 individuals with Schizophrenia, hierarchical logistic regression was employed to examine the contribution of (1) demographic (2) clinical and (3) discrepancy factors to suicidal ideation.

This review synthesized existing literature to determine if the minority stress model is applicable to LGB drug use disparities and fits within a trauma framework. Findings indicate that minority stress experiences have been inconsistently related to drug use among LGB adolescents. Implications for future research and practice are described.
